Why Independent Consulting?

I was a high school teacher for 20 years, and that gives me a two-decade vantage point of effective professional development and coaching.

I was also a consultant for the College Board for SAT, for AP English Language, and for Vertical Teams Coaching. 

​

Having been a teacher, a grade-level lead teacher, a department chair, a district vertical teams leader, a national consultant, a district coordinator, and a County Curriculum Director, poises me to have almost all the facets and moving parts of teaching in my wheelhouse.

I'm a life-long NCTE member, a career-long and now lifetime member of TCTELA having served that organization in every elected position. Starting in January of 2023, I will get to be a part of a six-person editorial team for the peer-reviewed journal, English in Texas. 

​

I've been published in English in Texas, (TCTELA), Voices from the Middle, and Classroom Notes (NCTE).

After 31 years in public education, it was time to try opening a small business and doing things my way.
